[K]Pop Culture.

Oh hey there! I’m Hannah and this is my personal blog about any and everything k-pop related! Growing up Asian American, I grew up consuming ALOT of Asian media and entertainment – think variety shows, k-dramas, kung-fu films, and a ton of singing competitions. From that exhaustive list, k-pop music was no exception. These days, I’m just a little obsessed with k-pop (okay that was an understatement but you get the point). Take that obsession, combine it with my love for journalism and writing (and BOOM!) a blog about everything k-pop!  

 

For as long as I can remember, k-pop has been a huge part of my life. Having followed the lives of these music artists for so many years, I genuinely look up to these people and am inspired every day by the messages these music artists share with the world. That said, you could probably guess my most-listened-to genre….no surprise there, it's definitely k-pop. Nowadays, even my day-to-day creative expression is heavily inspired by the Korean music industry. From my personal fashion style (Korean streetwear is #aestheticgoals) to my song covers to even my artwork, all are influenced by the culture surrounding k-pop.

K-Pop Culture is a go-to hub for the k-pop fan community to find regularly updated K-Bop Spotify playlists (yes “bop” because k-pop isn’t just pop music) as well as the latest breaking news in the k-pop world! On this blog, you’ll find a little bit of everything. Here, I share my new favorite tunes, comeback/album/song reviews, k-fashion inspo videos, and everything else a k-stan might be looking for in a blog! And if you’re especially interested in candid k-pop talk, my “K-Chats” podcast is where you’ll hear me and my co-host talk about any and everything the k-pop industry is too afraid to discuss (hint hint even the “dark side of k-pop”). Unlike other k-pop blogs, like Soompi and Koreaboo, K-Pop Culture doesn’t just report “headliner news” and focuses on offering the unique perspective of a fan’s experience with k-pop. Basically, K-Pop Culture is where we get down to the real interesting stuff about k-pop, with the added bonus of me being the k-pop bestie you never knew you needed!

 

And for those of you who may not be interested in anything remotely k-pop but stumbled across this blog anyways, I hope exploring this site opens you to the possibility of checking out what the Korean music industry has to offer. From inclusive fan communities to lyrical masterpieces to artists that spoil you with content to grand stage performances (that make Western shows look like they’re doing the bare minimum), the k-pop world has it all and more! And if that doesn’t convince you, I can assure you that – what the Western media stereotypes (yes I’m talking about the “screaming schoolgirl” fanbase which is not true btw) and labels as “overrated” aside – falling down the rabbit hole of k-pop is DEFINITELY worth the ride!
